Tuesdays 15.15-16.00 (Aleksis Kivi Comprehensive School, Sturenkatu 2, Helsinki)

These classes are for 4-7 graders. Also 3rd graders are welcome to join the class, if they already have some dance experience and/or are up for a challenge! In the classes students get to learn the basics of african dance styles, mainly based on afrobeat. Influences from hip hop and other street dances can also be used. Classes consist of warm up, different games and musicality and technique as well as short choreographies. The main thing is to have fun together with the team and to enjoy dance and movement!  Classes are taught in Finnish.

The classes are held in the school gym (Porvoonkatu 2, juhlasali).

This class is free of charge (sponsored by Walter Ry)

Description

Instructor: Sikujua Mponda

I appreciate my students coming out of their comfort zone and trying their best. Having fun and getting the best out of the dance experience is important to me and I want my students to get all the benefits out of their dance classes. Listening and creating a good group spirit is also one of my priorities in the class. I don’t expect you to copy my movement exactly, but to find your own style. I do my best to encourage my students in class as well as to prepare them for further dance studies.

This registration is valid until May 2022. The classes are sponsored by Walter ry and are free of charge.
